Ford Motor Company topped the list of automakers with the most recalled vehicles in 2025, issuing recalls affecting over 5 million vehicles throughout the year.
The recalls spanned multiple model lines, including the popular F-150 pickup truck, Explorer SUV, and various Lincoln luxury models. Software-related issues accounted for the majority of the recalls, followed by electrical system problems and mechanical defects.
Despite the high number of recalls, Ford maintained that the proactive approach demonstrates its commitment to customer safety. The company has invested heavily in over-the-air update capabilities to address software issues more quickly and efficiently.
Industry experts note that Ford's recall numbers may be partially attributed to the company's large vehicle portfolio and its aggressive push into electric and hybrid vehicles, which present new challenges in terms of software reliability.
