Tesla has released its first major over-the-air software update for the Cybertruck lineup, addressing several owner concerns and adding new capabilities.
The update, version 2026.8.5, brings an estimated 5-8% improvement in range across all Cybertruck trims through optimized battery management and regenerative braking algorithms. The Foundation Series AWD model now shows an EPA-estimated range of 340 miles, up from 320.
Key changes in the update include:
- Improved battery thermal management for better cold-weather performance
- Enhanced Autopilot with better construction zone detection
- New off-road mode with adjustable air suspension presets
- Faster Supercharger peak rates up to 350 kW on V4 stations
Tesla CEO Elon Musk noted on X that the update demonstrates the advantage of software-defined vehicles, where major improvements can be delivered without a dealership visit.
The update is rolling out globally over the next two weeks. Owners can check for availability in Settings > Software.
